The Path Forward

Hello again or welcome!

This thing has been dormant for a long time but I want to revive it. Going forward this blog will be a collection of my favorite stories from the trails I have hiked. There will be no particular order or overall goal other than archive memories I would like to hang on to. Hopefully whoever reads this can find some enjoyment, humor or inspiration from it.

What started as a childhood dream of thru hiking the Appalachian Trail turned into much more. After finishing the AT, I set my sights on completing the Triple Crown (AT, PCT and CDT). In the pursuit of these trails I found myself seeking out more adventures in the mountains. Since setting out on the AT back in 2021 I have completed the Arizona Trail, the Colorado Trail, the Uinta High Line Trail, the Bartram Trail, the Pacific Crest Trail, the Tour du Mont Blanc and lots of smaller trails. Over the last few years I have accumulated thousands of miles on my feet and filled my head with just as many memories. Walking in the mountains has provided me with profound experiences and funny stories.

I have countless journal entires on my phone and in notebooks from these adventures. When I think back on my thru hikes I remember feeling happy, free and adventurous. When I read through what I wrote I am reminded of what it actually took. There were many hard days. The good days vastly outnumber the bad days but the funny thing about all those good days is they make pretty boring stories. These are not those stories.
